2005 WebAward for GapInc.com

Newly redesigned site earns praise for overall excellence.

San Bruno, CA -- October 11, 2005 -- GapInc.com, Gap Inc.'s corporate website, was recently honored with a 2005 WebAward by the Web Marketing Association.

Now in its ninth year, the WebAwards' mission is to "provide a forum to recognize the people and organizations responsible for developing some of the most effective websites on the €™Net today." Websites are judged against peer sites within their industry as well as against Internet best practices.

As a Lead Developer, Duane Nason worked with other members of Gap Inc.'s Corporate Communications and IT departments to help deliver an outstanding website.

The awards name the top sites in 85 industry categories ranging from education to travel to non-profits. This year a record 2,100 entries were submitted from 33 countries around the world. GapInc.com received the Standard of Excellence award in the retail category.

"This well-deserved recognition is a tribute to the GapInc.com team's commitment to excellence and to the external audiences we serve," says Jill Nash, VP, Corporate Communications. "GapInc.com is the primary place where we tell our corporate brand story. The site delivers content and services to a diverse group of important stakeholders, from investors and the media, to job-seekers and people interested in our socially responsible practices. Our team is focused on constantly looking for ways to better serve these audiences, support the needs of our business and promote the company."

Relaunched with an all-new look and feel this past June, GapInc.com is produced by Corporate Communications in partnership with IT and other content stakeholders throughout the company.

The Web Marketing Association was founded in 1997 "to help set a high standard for Internet marketing and corporate Web development." Based in Connecticut, the organization is comprised of Internet marketing, advertising, PR and design professionals from around the country who share an interest in improving the quality and usefulness of corporate websites.
